In the compression sector the chamber is sealed off (not open to the inlet nor to the discharge port).

Because of the eccentricity the liquid ring segment is again filling the chamber, compressing the gas into a smaller volume.

the liquid ring segment between two blades is acting like a piston causing intake, compression and discharge.
